Homemade Pizza Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- Three 15-ounce cans of crushed tomatoes
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Pinch of sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 8 to 10 fresh basil leaves, chopped
Directions:
- Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and finely chopped onions, stirring frequently. Cook for about 4 to 5 minutes until the onions become soft.
- Pour in the chicken broth and whisk to deglaze the pan, scraping up any bits from the bottom. Allow it to cook until the broth reduces by half.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, then season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar.
- Add the dried oregano and fresh basil to the sauce. Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer gently for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
